About the IB 327 21st Century Learning Initiative

We believe that every student has a right to an education that prepares them for further education and future employment, and develops the skills that they must have as citizens of the 21st Century: creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.  As a 21st century district, we will ensure that every student in every class will have the opportunity to learn in an engaging environment reflective of the world that surrounds them.

Since the Spring of 2014, Superintendent Dr. Roger Alvey and Technology Director Cody Martzluf have been leading the effort to provide the technological resources our students and staff need to succeed in the 21st Century.

Overview of what the district has been working on:

  • Technology committee was formed in the Fall of 2014 to get input directly from teachers and staff.  Over the last year and a half, the committee has worked on researching and planning for our future.

  • The district invested in several key infrastructure upgrades including a new wireless network and increased Internet bandwidth.

  • Several technology committee members and teachers have made site visits to various school districts who have implemented 1:1 projects.

  • Professional development has been a top priority and we are continuously seeking out opportunities for teachers and staff.

  • The district has invested in over 438 Chromebooks and we have extensively piloted these devices in grade levels 3-12.

The district is piloting two programs, GoGuardian and Hapara, to ensure the success of this initiative.  GoGuardian will allow us to extend Internet content filtering to devices when they leave school, and Hapara provides tools for teachers to manage devices in their classrooms.  Please click on the program logos for more information.
